Why hire a lawyer?
You may have been injured in an accident and contacted by a friendly sounding insurance adjuster. They may have told you they are here to help you and of course, you want to believe them. But you need to understand that the insurance company hired them because they sound friendly, and trained them to talk to you in a way that would seem friendly, so they could gain your trust. They want you to trust them so they can hopefully settle your case for less than they should. If the friendly adjuster is successful in doing this, you get less and they keep more. This means more profits for them. And let’s face it, the insurance company is in business to make money, not make friends.
When you hire a lawyer, you are hiring someone who is ethically bound to look out for your interests. A lawyer is not allowed under the rules of professional responsibility and under the oath the lawyer took when he or she became a lawyer to put his or her interests before your interests. And when you hire a personal injury lawyer, like on of the lawyers in our firm, you are hiring a lawyer who will not get paid unless he gets you a settlement. And the amount the lawyer gets paid is based on how good of a job the lawyer does. So the lawyer has every reason to fight as hard as he or she can to get you the best possible settlement.
What lawyers in our office want for you is to get you what you deserve. We want to use our knowledge and experience to make sure the insurance company doesn’t take advantage of the fact that there are things you don’t know about the law and what they owe you. Our track record of successful results shows that we have been there, in the trenches, fighting for our clients for over twenty years. So if you’re thinking of trying to settle your case on your own, give us a call first. We’ll be happy to discuss your case and maybe give you some ideas you might not have thought of. We’ll also be happy to explain what the law says about your rights. Whether you hire us or not, we are happy to do this. Why? Because we like justice. And we don’t like to let big insurance companies bully people.
